I’m at the half way mark!! 6 down, 6 more days to go 🙂
The weekend has presented many temptations for me being on the cleanse, but I have not given in and am feeling very committed! We slept in this morning which was nice, but since we got a later start to the day with eating, I found I wasn’t very hungry in between meals today.
We kept dinner nice and simple tonight, wilted spinach and garlic again with salmon, sweet potato and cherry tomatoes.
Breakfast- Hot quinoa flake porridge with blackberries and raspberries and some cinnamon, Black coffee with some almond milk
Lunch- Leftover curry from last night
Dinner-Wilted Spinach with Garlic, sweet potatoes, cherry tomatoes and salmon
Snack- Popcorn / lemon water
I made it through my first week and I’m one sleep away from the half way mark. My energy levels feel like they have evened out and I’ve been having great sleeps.
My dinner today is inspired by the “creamy vegetable curry” recipe in the oh she glows cookbook. This is a vegan recipe but I added chicken and instead of using any cashews I used about 1/2 a cup of coconut milk. I only used sweet potatoes and omitted the peas. It was delicious! 🙂
Breakfast- Same as Day 3
Lunch- Leftover lettuce tacos from day 4
Dinner- Chicken and vegetable curry with rice
I think I am over the bouts of fogginess! I have had none today and I think I’m over the hump 🙂
My inspiration for tonight’s dinner came from blogger bornn creative, who blogged some great recipes from doing the Wild Rose cleanse in 2013.
Breakfast- same as day 3
Lunch- leftover salmon and chickpea salad from day 3
Snack- an apple with some Peppermint tea
Dinner- Ground Turkey Lettuce tacos with salsa and guacamole from the Wild Rose Herbal D-tox Cookbook
My energy has been pretty moderate today. I have had some bouts of fogginess this afternoon and evening. I had some cravings today, mostly for chocolate and sugar, but I chose to eat an apple instead. Apples and chocolate nothing alike as it turns out, but that apple was delicious! I am feeling cranky this evening and would love a glass of wine……
Breakfast- Chia pudding with raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and almonds, Black coffee with a bit of unsweetened almond milk
Lunch- Turmeric quinoa, leftover salmon and zucchini
Snack- Apple, Carrot and ginger tea
Dinner- Chickpea Salad minus the cucumber plus avocado, salmon steak and roasted asparagus
Day 2 went well! I didn’t feel light headed during the day, but I did a bit after dinner (it quickly subsided). It felt like a brief moment of fogginess opposed to feeling like I was going to faint. I felt quite full after dinner yesterday too, so I didn’t have a snack before bed, just some tea 🙂
Breakfast- Chia pudding with raspberries and almonds, Black coffee with a bit of unsweetened almond milk
Lunch- Tumeric quinoa, leftover curried chicken and baked beets
Snack- Apple/ Carrot and peppermint tea
Dinner- Zucchini pasta with Kale pesto and cherry tomatoes with broiled salmon
Lemon grass tea
And we are off! Day 1 of my cleanse has come and gone and it wasn’t too bad. I did start feeling a bit light headed and out of it in the afternoon, but that is to be expected. I did however have some delicious meals yesterday! I have to say my favorite thing about this cleanse is that I get to be creative in the Kitchen. I personally love the challenge of having to avoid certain foods and yet create something delicious and filling!
Breakfast- Hard-boiled Egg* , Black coffee with a bit of Unsweetened almond milk
Lunch- Curried Red Lentil Soup
Snack- Apple, Carrot, and peppermint tea
Dinner- Wilted Spinach with Garlic, Curried chicken wings & baked beets
Snack- Popcorn with coconut oil instead of butter and a wee bit of salt/ lemongrass tea
*I’m not much of a breakfast person. I know it’s bad, but it’s true and I’m working on it. I also have a HUGE aversion to the smell of hard-boiled eggs, so truth be told it was only my husband who had an egg with his Breakfast yesterday.
Hello! Long time no blog 😉
I don’t really have an excuse as to why it has been so long. Life has just gotten ahead of me, especially with the holidays and since I’m new to this whole blogging thing it was easy to let it fall to the wayside. I’m all over it for 2015 though, well at least I hope to be.
The past couple of years my husband and I have taken to starting the new year off with a cleanse. Our cleanse of choice is the Wild Rose Herbal D-tox Cleanse. Now cleansing isn’t for everyone, and I am aware that there can be lots of problems with cleanses and cleansing culture. We like this particular cleanse because it doesn’t colour too far outside the lines of what we typically like to eat and we choose to cleanse because we tend to like to re-evaluate our eating habits this time of year and find it to be a fun challenge that we do together!
This is not to say that everyone will experience this cleanse the same way!
I’ve decided to blog about it this time around as a way of getting back into blog posting. During this 12 day cleanse, I will be taking 3 different herbal supplements and a herbal-extract tincture twice a day and avoiding foods such as dairy, sugar, flour products and alcohol.
